Overview
Our client, an upmarket restaurant near Franschhoek is looking to employ a talented Pastry Chef to join their dedicated team. The restaurant is known for their delicious farm-to-table fair with an elevated sweet and savoury High Tea menu offering.
We are looking for an talented Pastry Chef specialising in desserts, pastries, and baked goods. Sweet and savoury patisserie experience essential.
As a Pastry Chef, you are responsible for operating the pastry section of the kitchen, baking and decorating cakes and pastries, You will be required to plan production, develop season offerings, recipe engineering, stock control and waste management.
Qualification & Skill
- Formal Culinary Education: A degree or certificate in culinary arts, with a specialisation in Pastry.
- Experience: Significant experience in the pastry section.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in baking techniques, recipe development, and pastry decoration.
- Creativity and Innovation: The ability to create unique and appealing desserts and pastries.
- Organisational and Time Management Skills, essential.
- Effective teamwork and Communication Skills.
- Attention to Detail: Precise measurements, consistent quality, and careful presentation are crucial.
- Excellent Knowledge of Sanitation and Safety Regulations; ensuring a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
