Job Overview

The Assistant Restaurant & Events Manager is responsible for assisting the overseeing of the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and event facilities, ensuring exceptional service, efficient operations, and outstanding guest experiences. This role also involves managing staff, coordinating restaurant events, driving revenue, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.

Inherent Requirements & Experience:

  • Hospitality qualification beneficial 
  • Previous experience in Restaurant and Events Management
  • Valid driver’s license essential

Key Responsibilities:

Restaurant Management:

  • Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth service and high-quality food and beverage standards.
  • Assist to Manage restaurant staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.(Induction package / OJT / SOP/Performance Reviews)
  • Maintain excellent customer service and address guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Ensuring guests comments results meet or exceed expected standards. Assist employees in getting as much as possible google reviews, Dineplan reviews and social media mentions.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels, placing orders as needed while controlling costs.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure menu execution and service excellence.
  • Drive sales through upselling, promotions, and special offerings.
  • Handle POS system management, cash-ups, and financial reporting related to restaurant revenue.
  • Regular operating and equipment stock takes are conducted and variance reports are reconciled.
  • Bar stock count and variance management.
  • All staff to be informed of marketing promotions, assist company drive to gather valuable contacts for database.
  • Weekly meetings with FOH (staff and restaurant management) and report to Managing Director.

Events Management:

Plan and execute restaurant events (birthdays, baby showers, kitchen teas) from inquiry to completion according to company policies and procedures.

  • Send quotations and make bookings thereof on Dineplan and on Semper.
  • Liaise with clients to understand their event requirements, ensuring seamless coordination. 
  • Meet and conduct site inspections. Communicate throughout with Administration Manager to ensure reporting is detailed and correct.
  • Work closely with the kitchen and service teams to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Ensure restaurant function venue is always clean, set-up and presentable for site inspections.
  • Ensure function sheets are available to all Management staff at least a week before the function.
  • Develop and implement event packages, pricing strategies, and promotional activities.
  • Manage event setup, logistics, staffing, and post-event evaluations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and event planners.

General responsibilities:

  • Administration duties relating to restaurant operations.
  • Accurate compilation of all required reports and handovers, ensuring that it is timeously distributed to personnel, Director.
  • Ensure all staff follow company Policies & Procedures.  
  • Attend Maintenance meetings and report all maintenance issues timeously.
  • Manage staff levels during downtime.
  • Be prepared to perform any other reasonable duties as prescribed by Management

Remuneration

R12 000 – R14 000 (Bonus dependant on performance)
