Our client, a high-end restaurant, in the heart of Cape Town, specialises in Cape Malay cuisine. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic SOUS CHEF to join the team. 

The ideal candidate is familiar with Cape Malay cooking and spices, passionate about food, demonstrates exceptional culinary skill, organisation and interpersonal skills.  We are looking for a true leader, stable and able to perform under pressure. 

Key Role: The Sous Chef must be highly engaged and hands-on in day-to-day operations supporting the Head Chef. Ensures all culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality. Assists in coordinating and participating in the preparation and cooking activities. Assists with planning and creating new dishes. 

Position Requirements

  • Qualification in Professional Cookery or relevant culinary qualification 
  • At least 3 year’s proven working experience as a Sous Chef in a high-end restaurant environment 
  • Proficient knowledge of Cape Malay Cooking
  • Stable and strong ability to manage pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Passionate about cooking and continued staff development

Candidates, who are already residing in the Western Cape will have preference. We can only consider South African Citizens or applicants who hold a valid South African Permanent Residence!
