Overview
Our client, is one of South Africa’s oldest working farms, strategically located in the heart of Stellenbosch Winelands. We are seeking a seasoned SOUS CHEF also well-versed in the arts of Pâtisserie.
The ideal individual for the SOUS CHEF position is someone with a strong operational and management skills, flexible, up to date with local and international trends, quality driven, a leader, stable and able to perform under pressure. A formal Culinary education and own reliable transport and valid driver’s licence is essential.
Position Scope
You would be expected to assist with managing and directing the kitchen operations and staff alongside the Head Chef, assist with menu planning and costing recipes, food consumption, strict stock controls, stock management, stock movement, rotation and ordering and supplier liaison, excellent control of food cost, wastage and kitchen preparation, staff development and disciplining, setting up and managing SOP’s and staff performance, ensuring the team has high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety.
Position Requirements / Skills / Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in Kitchen operations
- Degree / Diploma in Culinary Arts / Chef /. Hospitality Management
- Strong pastry background
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a hands-on management approach
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with the flexibility to adapt to shifting dynamics
- Superlative product knowledge with excellent time management skills
- Environmentally responsible and willing to learn more
- Good financial awareness
- Strong admin focus with superior organisational skills
- A creative and innovative thinker, willing and able to inspire teams with a desire to exceed guest expectations at all times
- A vibrant and responsible approach with a cheerful and service-oriented outlook
Remuneration
R25 000 and Negotiable (DOE)

Candidates, who are already residing in the Winelands Region will have preference. We can only consider South African Citizens or applicants who hold a valid South African Permanent Residence! No Work Permit applications will be accepted! Applicants, who live in other provinces of South Africa still need to attend personal interviews and if requested to do any cook-offs, will do so completely at their own expense.
