We are seeking an experienced SOUS CHEF to take charge of a 5-star Boutique Hotel’s kitchen operations.  The restaurant offers a relaxed, upmarket dining experience. A chef with a strong operational background, a sharp culinary skill-set, previous hotel experience will be beneficial. Ability to lead and manage a team effectively, quality driven, focused and able to perform under pressure. 

Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license is essential.  Applicants already residing in the Winelands region will receive preference. 

Position Requirements

  • A Diploma in Professional Cookery
  • National Senior Certificate
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a high-end kitchen environment
  • Previous hotel experience will be beneficial
  • Able effectively manage and run a team
  • Work well under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, on all levels
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Passionate about food production
  • Able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays

Examples of Key Responsibilities

  • Directs food preparation and collaborates with Head Chef
  • Produces high quality plates, including both design and taste
  • Oversees and supervises kitchen staff
  • Assists with menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies
  • Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition
  • Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards
  • Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen’s performance
  • Schedules staff shifts
  • Trains new employees
  • Orders food supplies
  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment
  • Solves problems that arise and seizes control of issues in the kitchen

Remuneration Details

R20 000 – R25 000 (Plus Benefits)

Candidates, who are already residing in the Western Cape will have preference. We can only consider South African Citizens or applicants who hold a valid South African Permanent Residence!
