Overview

Our Client is a privately owned, Fair Trade accredited, 4 Star Inn, based in Mkuze – Northern KZN. This intimate and beautiful hotel is the ideal location from which to explore the game and coastal reserves of Zululand and the Elephant Coast. Discover the abundance of wildlife and scenic splendours of this rich and diverse region during game drives and walks in uMkhuze and Hluhluwe game reserves, boat cruises and tiger fishing on Lake Jozini as well as cultural and scenic safaris all in the company of knowledgeable rangers. Our client pride themselves on delivering exceptional guest experiences, emphasizing sustainability and active engagement with the stunning surrounding landscapes. 

This is a Live-In Position. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Safari & Activity Manager to lead their Safari department and elevate their guest experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily operations, enhancing guest activities, and ensuring profitability. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Safari and guest activity departments
  • Oversee all Safari staff, providing leadership, training, and support
  • Ensure health and safety of guests and staff
  • Manage game viewing vehicles and boats, ensuring safety and maintenance standards are met
  • Expand the current range of game drives, boat cruises, and cultural trips to include more active and interesting offerings for our guests. 
  • Drive revenue through effective booking strategies at the reservation stage and for in-house guests
  • Prioritize sustainability initiatives, aligning with Fair Trade principles
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall guest experience

Experience Qualification

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry
  • Relevant FGASA (Field Guide Association of Southern Africa) qualification – PDP
  • Wilderness first aid certificate (equivalent to a level 2 first aid) 
  • Preferably a skipper’s licence
  • Proven track record of successfully managing Safari and activity departments
  • Strong understanding of the hospitality industry and guest service standards 

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Live-in accommodation provided
  • R18 000 – R20 000 pm
  • 50% Company contribution to Momentum Medical Aid
  • 7% Company contribution to Momentum Provident Fund

Candidates, who are already residing in the KZN will have preference. We can only consider South African Citizens or applicants who hold a valid South African Permanent Residence!
