Overview

We have a dynamic opportunity for an Experienced Restaurant Manager at a well-known restaurant in the heart of Stellenbosch.  

The ideal individual has excellent food and wine knowledge, is highly service and guest orientated with a strong operational skill set, ability to lead and manage a team effectively, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and has initiative and attention to detail. Minimum of 5 years restaurant management experience

The key role is to oversee and manage this busy restaurant operations, and help ensure profitability. 

Position specs: Fixed term contract of 6 months, with the potential for extension or a permanent position after the initial period

General Working Hours:

  • Mon, Tue, Thurs: 08:00 to 17:00/18:00
  • Wed and Fri: 12:00 to 20:00
  • Sat; 08:00 to 13:30/14:30

The nature of the job may require additional evening shifts, particularly for events and functions.  Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, is expected based on the demands of the role. 

Key Requirements and Experience

  • Hospitality Management Qualification advantageous 
  • Excellent wine knowledge
  • Minimum of 5  years’ experience in a managerial role
  • Training and staff performance management ability 
  • Confident and excellent communication skills
  • Hands-on approach to restaurant operations
  • Guest and service centric approach
  • Able to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays
  • Excellent interpersonal- & communication skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability 
  • Passion for the hospitality industry
  • Own vehicle and valid driver’s license is essential 

Examples of Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth running of the daily restaurant operations and activities 
  • Being actively on the floor during service to ensure excellent guest interaction and service excellence 
  • Continues staff training and staff performance management 
  • Inventory management and supplier liaison
  • Monitor compliance with safety and hygiene regulations
  • General administrative duties: staff rosters, time and attendance, managing bookings and enquiries
  • Staff management and development

Remuneration 

  • R22 000 to R24 000 NETT – based on experience and qualification
