Overview: Relevant Skills / Experience

We are looking for a passionate individual with positive energy, significant practical experience and knowledge within the hospitality industry to join our client’s luxury hospitality and wellness retreat as an all-round Duty Manager.

You would be part of a small team that would be providing service and hospitality at the highest and most personalized level of the guest’s experience. Your style is personal, intuitive, attentive, your eye for detail needs to be impeccable. You need to be able to intuitively read the room, the general atmosphere, our guests and their needs. Your energy and communication style is warm, sincere and open. 

You would be responsible for the guests’ Journey (experience) on this distinguished property, from the arrival welcome, gentle check in and orientation of the house and farm. Guiding the guests on their personalized Journeys (schedule). Guidance during the stay, including doing set ups of various Rituals and Rhythms (Group Activities). Ensuring guests are at the correct areas for their activities. Assisting with any guest requests, including booking transfers if required. Ensuring a smooth check out, and taking payment for any extras.   

The ambiance and aesthetic of the House and guest areas would fall under your care. General housekeeping, atmosphere, ordering of equipment and stationery all form part of this. A niche Farm Shop, and the stock take and sales includes your area of responsibility.     

You need to communicate effectively with the various teams regarding any special requests, as well as knowing and understanding the daily verbal menus created by the chefs to ensure this is aligned with the information you may receive from guests. The garden produce and the benefits of the harvested produce and herbs play a very important role in the journey, you may have to join guests on a walk. The Spa / Wellness / Bath House experience and scheduling are very important parts of the journey, and you would need to book and schedule various inclusive treatments as well as additional treatments along with booking additional offering with various external practitioners.  

You would lead the service by adopting a ‘hands-on’ approach, demonstrating the willingness to serve alongside the hospitality teams. 

As a Duty Manager you work hand in hand with the support departments (Maintenance, IT, Housekeeping and Service Teams) to ensure the guest experiences is of the highest standard. Initiative, forward planning, communication skills and organization skills are key attributes to this role  
 Ensure that policies, processes, and standards directly affecting Guests reflect their safety, security, and preferences.

Candidates, who are already residing in The Winelands Region will have preference. We can only consider South African Citizens or applicants who hold a valid South African Permanent Residence!
