Our client is a trendy, upscale cocktail bar and restaurant with a focus on innovative cocktails and tapas style dining located in the heart of Ballito. Our client is known for our creative cocktails, unique dining experiences and pairing/tasting experiences.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and talented Bar Manager with a strong focus on mixology to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of bar operations, leading and developing a high-performing bar team, and creating exceptional cocktail experiences for all guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Mixology & Beverage Program:
- Develop and implement innovative and creative cocktail menus, showcasing seasonal ingredients and unique flavour profiles.
- Stay abreast of current cocktail trends and techniques, incorporating new ideas into the menu.
- Train and mentor bar staff on cocktail preparation, presentation, and service standards.
- Oversee the selection and procurement of high-quality spirits, liqueurs, and other bar supplies.
- Conduct regular bar tastings and staff training sessions to enhance mixology skills.
- Operational Management:
- Manage all aspects of bar operations, including staff scheduling, inventory control, and cost management.
- Ensure smooth and efficient service delivery, exceeding guest expectations.
- Manage bar budgets and maximize profitability.
- Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to drive customer traffic.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant liquor licensing laws and regulations.
- Guest Experience:
- Cultivate a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for guests.
- Interact with guests, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local clientele and the community.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing bar team.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure staff are properly trained and equipped to deliver exceptional service.
Position Requirements / Qualification
- Proven experience as a Bar Manager or Head Bartender in a high-volume bar or restaurant.
- Extensive knowledge of mixology techniques, spirits, and liqueurs.
- Passion for creating unique and innovative cocktails.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Proficient in inventory management and cost control.
- Experience in training and developing bar staff.
- Knowledge of liquor licensing laws and regulations.
- A strong understanding of local market trends and competitive landscape.
- Passion for creating unforgettable guest experiences.

Candidates, who are already residing in Ballito, KZN will have preference. We can only consider South African Citizens or applicants who hold a valid South African Permanent Residence! No Work Permit applications will be accepted!
